Laminated Beams
High Strength & Dimensional Stability
Laminated timber is far superior to solid timber due to its high strength and dimensional stability. Where solid timber posts and beams will crack and twist, a laminated Beam in the same size (and often smaller) will remain stable for many years as well as retaining its aesthetic appeal.
Glued laminated timber, or glulam, is a highly innovative construction material. It is a stress-rated engineered wood beam composed of wood laminations, or “lams”, that are bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives. The grain of the laminations runs parallel with the length of the member.

Good & To Use For
It is often used as a structural beam to run across large openings such as pergolas or open roof structures
